Product Description
Newport's new 2570P Polarization Multimeter uses a patented deterministic power search method (complies with TIA/EIA-455-198). The instrument measures Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL), Insertion Loss (IL), Optical Power (Po) and Degree of Polarization (DOP) of a device under test (DUT) in sub-seconds. Unlike PDL/DOP meters using a scrambled SOP input to the DUT and looking for the PDL with uncertainties, the 2570P systematically searches for the maximum and minimum transmission, assuring measurement accuracy at all times. Consequently, the instrument is accurate for devices with both low and high PDL and SOP values, and is the most accurate PDL meter available in its class. Even more impressively, the 2570P Series can cover a wide wavelength range from 1260 to 1650 nm without a single wavelength calibration, a clear advantage over instruments based on the Muller Matrix method. The 2570P Series Polarization Multimeter comes with RS-232 remote interface for PC control and is ideal for fast and accurate characterization of the performance of passive devices, especially DWDM components, in R&D labs as well as in manufacturing environments.
