Product Description
The Model 5600 Laser Diode Driver operates in either CW or Quasi-CW (QCW) mode with up to 65 A of output current. The instrument is capable of driving multiple high-power laser diode bars in series. Several versions are available with maximum compliance voltages from 5 V30 V. Full 16-bit control and characterization (L, V, I) of laser diodes is attainable via the IEEE-488 or RS-232 interface. All pertinent laser diode parameters Io, Po, and Vf are simultaneously presented on the four line alphanumeric LCD display. Laser output power in Watts is displayed when the responsivity of an external photodiode or thermopile detector is programmed into the unit. An internal function generator is programmable from 200 Hz300 kHz with either a sinewave or squarewave output, allowing signal modulation in both the constant current (ACC) mode and in constant power (APC) mode. In addition, an external analog modulation input port is included allowing modulation of the output current using other waveforms and frequencies. Incorrect settings are prevented during the setup mode to protect the laser diode. When power is turned off, all program settings are saved. During operation, the front panel keys can be disabled to prevent any inadvertent changes in the output by accidental movement of the control knob. Complete laser diode protection is provided, including transient detection and filtering, intermittent contact protection, independent current limit and power limit settings, output off shorting circuits and a slow turn on sequence. In addition, shielded cables are available to protect against radiated energy from outside equipment, providing the lowest noise output to the laser diode.
