The VersaStar™ Modular Filter Wheel, another innovative design from Newport, allows filters to be easily added and removed from the filter wheel by hand without tools. The filters, which are conveniently held by carriers, simply snap in and out of the filter wheel hub. When a filter is removed from the wheel, it can be kept in its carrier. This makes adding the filter back into the wheel at a later time much easier than the traditional way of having to re-insert the filter back into a fixed carrier. This reduces the chances of human fingers touching the optic. Additionally, because both 1/2-in. and 1-in. diameter filter carriers have the same optical center line, they are interchangeable and can be used together on the same wheel. VersaStar™ Modular Filter Wheel assemblies are sold with the carriers for 4.2-mm thick filters. Individual components such as the carrier for 10-mm thick filters are sold separately for customized configurations. Newport carries a full line of 1/2-in. and 1-in. diameter filters which are compatible with the VersaStar Modular Filter Wheel (see Laser Line Filters).
