Product Description
These lamp housings aren’t just aluminum enclosures for the lamp; they hold the ignitor, condensing optics, rear reflector and lamp cooling fan. We offer three families of housings to hold our line of 50 to 1600 W Hg, Xe and Hg(Xe) DC arc lamps. Simply change the socket adapter and you can interchange between lamp types and wattages, within the appropriate housing family. The socket adapter holds the lamp at the proper optical height for the rear reflector and condenser. To optimize the position and to compensate for lamp to lamp variations, we provide rear reflector and lamp adjusters.
We offer various condensing lens assemblies for these housings; they differ in usable spectral range, aperture size, output Beam,and beam quality and collection efficiency. Refer to Table 1 for a comparison.
These lamp housings include a number of safety features to prevent lamp damage and accidental exposure. A door interlock prohibits the operation of the lamp while the door is open; a temperature sensor monitors the lamp’s operating temperature and controls the cooling fan accordingly.

Oriel Lamp Housing is designed to operate in a typical laboratory environment (typically 68 to 76 degrees F, up to 45% relative humidity). Temperature and humidity outside of typical laboratory range can contribute to cooling and ignition faults. Cooling issues will cause the over temperature sensor to open, and ignition problems will result from high humidity. Contact Newport technical representative for more information if operating outside the suggested range.
* Please specify the appropriate cable for your choice of lamp, when ordering a 50 - 500 W Lamp Housing. The 450 - 1600 W Housings include a set of cables to run any lamp type.

** Note, for lamps to 250 W only.

*** Note, these housings do not meet CE regulations, as there is no condenser. Extreme care should be taken when operating an arc lamp in a housing without condenser.
