Projects in Optics is a self-paced teaching and learning tool for courses in the fundamentals of optics. Composed of ten modules, each project defines and illustrates an essential concept in optics, from theory to hands-on experiment. Developed by the Technical Staff of Newport with the assistance of Dr. Donald C. OShea of the School of Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Projects in Optics provides the tools and experience necessary to engineers and technicians pursuing a career in the optics field. Each kit is supplied with an informative workbook that can be used as a study guide, all the tools necessary to complete each project, a tutorial introduction on basic optics and clearly written discussions of the fundamental principles involved in each optical project. This combined with step-by-step instructions for successful setup and completion ensure that the student will develop confidence, understanding and competence with the optical principles involved. All the necessary equipment including laser, precision mechanical positioners, optical components, breadboard, mounting hardware and tools are custom packaged and designed to serve you through years of learning and research.
